I have historical data, that I wish to plot out. I’m looking for the best way to visualize this.
The data consist of points in time, where a product was sold for a certain price whilst in a certain condition (scale from 1 to 70). I would like to see the evolution of the price per 5 condition points. (calculated plot lines for 5, 10, 15,…)
Example data looks like this:
28/05/1977 212,50 58 4/11/1978 172,50 20 4/06/1983 232,50 20 28/02/1987 200,00 35 26/03/1988 200,00 45 6/05/1989 125,00 45 23/05/1992 150,00 43 24/04/1993 112,50 33 5/11/1994 125,00 33 9/12/1995 205,00 30 12/10/1996 125,00 33 12/04/1997 137,50 30 7/11/1998 125,00 33 7/10/2000 157,50 30 12/05/2001 200,00 45 12/05/2001 120,00 20 9/11/2002 160,00 30 9/11/2002 125,00 28 8/05/2003 200,00 30 8/05/2003 110,00 20 17/05/2003 150,00 20 27/11/2004 160,00 30 27/11/2004 100,00 15 27/11/2004 120,00 15 5/11/2005 200,00 58 5/11/2005 120,00 35 5/11/2005 140,00 30 9/12/2006 160,00 30 9/12/2006 130,00 28 9/12/2006 90,00 20 24/03/2007 150,00 28 9/06/2007 200,00 30 15/03/2008 240,00 30 26/04/2008 250,00 45 14/06/2008 750,00 65 14/06/2008 150,00 28 13/09/2008 210,00 30
The point of the graph is not only to see the evolution of the price over time of the product in a certain condition, but also to see the gaps between the condition levels.
Let me know if you have additional questions, since I don’t know if I’ve explained this clearly at all.
My question is what chart type can I use, to represent this data in the best way for my type of use.
Kind Regards, Braemt
Braemt,
You can use column chart for the comparison of price over time. Please take a look at this article for more information on choosing right chart for your data.
